Shoes and insoles

Enjoyable walking

Our feet carry us around all day over all kinds of surfaces. As a rule it is enjoyable and makes us happy. However, when pain sets it, it soon becomes torturous and we automatically reduce our radius of movement.

Painful feet

Congenital or inherited malformations or misalignments, wearing unsuitable footwear for longer periods of time, or damage caused by accidents can either result in acutely painful feet and the associated effects on the whole body or in the development of these symptoms at a later point in time.

Difference in leg length

By adjusting individual insoles and suitable footwear, severe, these consequences can be successfully prevented, reduced or even cured. Insoles and shoes can provide extremely specific and targeted help by correcting, removing pressure, causing sensorimotor effects, stabilising or compensating for differences in leg length.

Thankfully, the days are gone when orthopaedic shoes were brown, clumpy and recognisable from a long way off. Modern colours and shapes have been used for a long time now. It goes without saying that not only has the appearance been enhanced, but numerous functional improvements have also been made. Irrespective of whether special or mass-produced shoes are used for insoles, orthoses, bandages or stabilisation, a suitable model can almost always be found.
Since 2014, Orthotec has produced and adapted made-to-measure orthopaedic shoes in cases where no suitable shoe can be found from our suppliers.

Over the years, misalignments of the feet very rapidly result in abnormalities in other joints in the body. Osteoarthritis of the knee joint is frequently caused by a misalignment in the area of the foot. Sometimes even misalignments of the jaw can be traced back to a misalignment of the foot. These misalignments can be treated with insoles that have a static corrective or sensorimotor effect. Static correction straightens a misalignment of the foot by providing the right shape and keeps the foot in an optimised position.
The effect of the sensorimotor insole is based on the creation of a specific (perceptible) stimulus that in turn creates a motor reaction (muscle tension). The misalignment is thus not primarily corrected from the outside, but instead the body is stimulated to correct itself.
