Rugby wheelchairs

Team sport for athletes with a high level of impairment

Wheelchair rugby is a team sport for athletes with impairment of at least three limbs. Wheelchair rugby was developed in the late 1970s in Canada and is now played in more than twenty countries around the world and is a Paralympic sport. In Canada it was first known as murder ball. It was then named quad rugby in the USA. In the late 1980s, the sport was then officially renamed wheelchair rugby outside the United States. It is a mixture of rugby and volleyball.

We have a wide range of products for this fun.

  • Orthotec Rehabilitationstechnik Sportgeraete Rugbyrollstuhl Melrose Rhino

The Melrose rugby sports wheelchair is produced following an in-depth consultation with the athlete. The produced sports wheelchairs meet the international specifications of the IWRF. Premium-quality materials and components are integrated, which the company's own engineers have developed based on their many years of experience.

  • Orthotec Rehabilitationstechnik Sportgeraete Rugbyrollstuhl Otto Bock Invader

The properties of the Invader Rugby sports wheelchair are like the game of rugby itself: hard, agile, fast. This sports wheelchair is produced exactly in accordance with customer measurements and customer desires. The customer alone decides what the wheelchair should look like; sideguards, seat accessories, drive wheel rims, spoke guards, double anti-tip wheels for increased stability, or maybe a carbon-fibre foot shell. All wishes are fulfilled and the wheelchair is built in such a way that it meets IWRF regulations and does justice to what it claims.
The welded box frame provides stability, which is required for tackling, supported by an oversize axle with a diameter of 25 mm. As even the anti-tip wheels are welded to the frame and the steering wheel fork is made of one piece, the Invader Rugby reacts precisely and easily to commands.

The powerful, but manoeuvrable Invader Rugby is designed for offensive action. Its fully welded construction withstands the toughest tackles, but is light enough for the next run. And whoever wants to prevent exactly that, should choose the Invader Rugby defensive. With its oversize axle and extremely stable frame, it ensures that nobody gets past.
